Getting real healthy {week 3}

I’m very happy to have a good report today! I’m finally getting back on track and feeling so much better. And I have to say it feels really good to be able to come to you today with a better outlook, a good report, and a renewed strength (Philippians 4:13).

So here we go. First, a recap of my goals again…

eat clean refresh

  • Eat clean (reduce sugar, eat more fresh produce, drink 40 oz water daily)
  • Move more (park farther away from shopping centers, play Xbox 360 twice weekly, walk outdoors 2-3 times a week)
  • Refresh daily (morning devotions, purposeful prayer daily, Bible study)

Weekly Update #3

Last week’s weight: 201.6
This week’s weight: 196.6
Result: -5 lbs

Eat clean

As you can see above, I have eliminated the first of the three mini goals I set for myself under this category. Over the last two years I have eliminated a lot of sugar from my diet already. At the onset of this challenge, I had zero knowledge of what “eating clean” meant. As I’ve read and studied more on it during the last two week, I’m sort of morphing my goals accordingly.

I have eaten much more fresh fruit and veggies. I am noticing a change in my kids, too. Elijah, especially has asked for grapes with his school lunches almost every day this past week. That’s a big change from wanting Little Debbie snack cakes.

I’m also back up to my 40+ ounces of water each day. Right now I’m loving lemon wedges in my water. Quick, simple, body-friendly.

(I’m thinking it might be time to sit down and re-evaluate my goals under this category and revamp them.)

Goals for week ahead: Keep guzzling water, try to add in more green leafy veggies.

Move more

Still not much of an improvement to share here. I am parking further at stores to get those few extra steps in. The weather’s been yucky here lately so I haven’t had an opportunity to walk outside yet. And I didn’t get in any Xbox time at all this week.

Goals for week ahead: Focus on doing something small each day to move at least 10-15 minutes.

Refresh daily

I’m slowly getting back into my morning devotions routine. I think I did very well on this one this week but of course, there is always room for improvement. The Lord has been speaking to my heart about a Bible study to commit to developing and sharing here with you. More to come on that later.

Goals for week ahead: prayer-focused, digging even deeper into the Word.

Keep it up for next week! Can’t wait to hear more about the bible study.
