Hi! I’m a little tardy in posting this video. I’ve had internet problems for a couple of months and finally got it fixed today. Yay! :) Our Group 19 is whittling down a bit. If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone. Sometimes things happen beyond our control. That’s totally understandable. I leave you with this video of encouragement for our third week of the Bible in 90 Days.
B90Days July ’11 Session {Week 2}
Quick video, for my Group 19 gals. Love you all!
If you haven’t checked in yet, today’s the day (Monday, July 18). Click here to go to Group 19 page at MomsToolbox.
Gearing up for B90Days
I wanted to prepare a face-to-face video for this, but my laptop is in the shop (a mishap with coffee!). This silly computer I’m using in the meantime is stubborn and downright uncooperative. So here I am writing a quick post instead.
I wanted to offer some three quick tips for reading the Bible in 90 days. The July 2011 session begins Monday, July 11th. So in these final days, I have these suggestions for you, if you’ll be reading with us.
#1: Pray.
I can’t stress this enough. Pray for endurance. Pray for courage. Pray for the strength to sit down and read, when you’d rather be doing something else.
#2: Schedule time to read as early in the morning/day as possible.
Creating a reading routine to begin your day really makes a difference. I found that the days I waited (or put the reading off until later), the more difficult it was too ready. You get “busy.” Read as early as possible.
#3: If you need help, ASK.
Seriously. I’m mentoring this time around (Group 19–HOLLAH!). As a B90Days, I know how important the relationship is between readers and their mentor. As a first-time mentor during this session, I want every lady in my group to know that I will be calling your name in prayer every morning. And if you ever need anything, I’m only an email away. I don’t say this lightly; it is heartfelt.
What to expect in the coming weeks
I know it’s going to get a bit overwhelming some days. As a mentor, my goal is to encourage and support you on your journey. I’ll post a weekly mentoring video here each week. Nothing fancy or elaborate. Just me, encouraging you. Why videos? Because (believe me!) you are going to have plenty enough to read. A video will give you a nice break from text for a few minutes. ;)
You can do this! Together, we will do this!

Yesterday I shared some thoughts on preparing for the Bible in 90 Days session. These should really be considered before you sign up for the reading challenge. Here are a few more thoughts regarding the challenge of reading the Bible through in such a short amount of time.
Tip #5: DO NOT attempt to do any in-depth studies during this session. This took some self-control for me the last time. Every time my curiosity was stirred, I instinctively wanted to dig deeper. Now isn’t the time for deep studies. Right now you are simply reading the Bible. Breaking the Bread. Consuming the Word.
Tip #6: Keep a small notebook to jot down scriptures that speak to you, thoughts to explore, etc. as you read. You don’t have to go buy a special book. Just grab a notepad or a cheap notebook. That’s all you need. This is something new I’ll do during this session of B90Days. (I wish I’d done it the first time.) I won’t even concern myself with dating the pages, just jotting notes and thoughts as needed. This notebook will be a great resource later!
Tip #7: If you fall behind, it’s okay. Don’t stop reading. DO NOT GIVE UP! I think that speaks for itself. ;) I promise you that if you fall behind, you won’t be the first, and certainly not the last. Don’t allow that to be an excuse to throw in the towel. Better yet, plan ahead (see Tip #2) and stick to the plan.
Tip #8: Turn to your mentor for help, support, advice, etc. The special thing about this is that Amy selects mentors for the session and creates intimate groups. Your mentor is there to support you. If you’re having a hard time adjusting to a reading schedule, find yourself falling behind, or are just having a tough time otherwise, reach out. Ask for prayer. Utilize the support system. That’s what it’s there for!

How to read the Bible in 90 days {Part 1}
Reading the Bible in 90 days is no simple feat. It will most likely be one of the most challenging tasks you undertake. And one of the most rewarding.
Tip #1: Begin with prayer. Before you even sign up to join the upcoming session of B90Days, pray about it. Ask God to help you. Seek direction.
Tip #2: Decide the best time of day to read. Then stick to it. This reading plan does require daily time commitment. Some can read their daily portion in as little as 20 minutes, but others require up to an hour or two. Better to plan for more time than you might need, than to fall short and end up frustrated because you can’t complete the readings every day.
Tip #3: Ask yourself the question, ‘Why do I want to read the Bible in 90 days?’ When you have a purpose and intention, you are more likely to follow the plan through to completion. For me, during the last session my main purpose was simply to read the Bible through from cover to cover. It was something I’d never done. During this session, my purpose is different. What is your purpose? Keeping this in mind will help you on the days you’re finding it rough to stick to the plan.
Tip #4: Don’t get sidetracked. There are lots of distractions that can sidetrack you. Be cautious and constantly aware of how you’re spending your time. Forget about Twitter and Facebook. And blogs. Let the Word come first every day and I promise you, you will be amazed at how much more time you seem to have.
More tips tomorrow!

Read the Bible in 90 Days {July 2011 Session}
Until recently, I could not say I had read the Bible in its entirety. I was raised in church, but never had read the entire Bible, from front to back covers. That’s just sad.
Amy, at Mom’s Toolbox, changed all that. When I signed up for Spring 2011 Bible in 90 Days session, I did it on a whim. And to be honest, I didn’t have enough faith in myself to believe I’d even finish. In fact, I doubted I’d make it through the first two weeks.
But I hung in there. And I read through the Bible in 90 days with many others.
I’m not going to tell you it was easy. It wasn’t. It was probably the most difficult and challenging thing I’ve done in a long time.
There were a few times when I got behind on my reading. At one point, I was about a week or so behind, and I nearly caved. I thought (a lot!) about quitting. But then I reminded myself of the importance of this challenge, and the reasons why I wanted to read the Bible through in 90 days.
I persevered. I asked God to help me find the courage to catch up and keep on, despite how far behind I was at that point.
By the end of the challenge, I had amazed myself at how far I’d come–in so many ways–in just three short months.
Whether you’ve already read the Bible through several times, or you’ve yet to read through just one book of the Bible, this challenge will change your life. You can’t feast on the Word at such an intense pace and not be changed.
During the upcoming summer session of Bible in 90 Days, I’ll serve as a mentor. I highly encourage you to give this prayer and consideration, because I know you will be blessed if you decide to join.
